Vogel Heerma Waitz

V14 stands for trusted advice in times of change. With entrepreneurial thinking and pragmatic solutions, we support our clients efficiently and purposefully. Creativity and experience form the foundation for shared success.

What

We can’t do everything. But what we do, we do well. We advise companies, investors and founders on all aspects of venture capital, M&A, IP, technologies and innovative business models:
  • financing rounds
  • convertible loans
  • employee participation (virtual shareholdings and profit participation rights)
  • M&A
  • licensing and SaaS
  • research and development cooperations
  • data protection and IT
  • protection of IP, business secrets and know-how
  • artificial intelligence
  • GTC
  • legal disputes
  • joint ventures

How

Enjoying the personal relationship and taking pleasure in our work
We share with our clients curiosity and creativity. We aim to establish and maintain sustainable long-term client relationships based on individual cooperation in mutual trust and respect.
With dedication, experience and economic understanding
We are personally committed to our clients and their concerns. We think entrepreneurial and know what the market demands. We offer specific and pragmatic recommendations how to deal with the matters at hand, based not only on our legal expertise, but on our long-standing experience in the markets we act in.
Efficient and pragmatic
Our experience and specialization allow us to support even large mandates in small teams. We take care of the important things: Not everything that is desirable is enforceable. Not everything that is enforceable is sensible. And in all of this, we keep in mind that the consulting costs should be in proportion to the added value or transaction volume.

Due to this sector specialisation, they are in close contact with the firm’s IP specialists. The team’s core competence is advising on growth capital rounds, including those involving PE funds, while it is also increasingly advising on M&A transactions in the context of buy-and-build strategies.”

It was expected that the spin-off of SJ Berwin would be successful in the Berlin VC market in the first two years after its launch. But hardly anyone expected that the firm’s market share would grow so rapidly and that it would so quickly become the prototype of a firm that offers both advising investors as well as founders. By leaving a large organization, Frank Vogel was able to expand his investor client base beyond Earlybird and Peppermint; but the two remain the enviously gazed at cornerstones of the practice. However, the success of the firm is not based solely on Vogel’s work, but rather on a sustainable strategic positioning. This includes the broadly diversified IT and technology expertise of Jan Heerma as well as the contacts of the former Morrison & Foerster counsel Clemens Waitz in the startup scene. VHW thus made a tailor-made start and immediately proved its market position with prominent exits such as “6Wunderkinder” for Earlybird and regular activities in large financing rounds. VHW thus presents itself as a serious competitor for the established major law firms. The two younger associates are also already attracting attention. It all looks like VHW has built a solid basis for future success.”
